Moong dal godshe

This recipe is simple and hearty. One of my favourites. It is just how I remember our Marie Mai made it.

Collect it:

• 200 gms whole Moong dal

• 1/2 cup Fresh grated coconut

• 2 small Goan pyramid jaggery

• 1/4 tsp Salt

• 1/2 tsp cardamom powder

Make it:

Wash and soak the whole Moong in sufficient water overnight or 8 hours.

Drain excess water. In pressure cooker add the Moong, and water should be at least an inch above the Moong. Pressure cook for 3 whistles (Moong should be just soft enough with some bite to it)

In a grinder, add the salt, fresh coconut and cardamom powder. Grind slightly coarse. Add this to the Moong along with the chopped jaggery and cook till dissolves. Adjust consistency of the godshe with adding some hot water if required.
