Sandwich maker cake

This is a quick fix recipe and you cannot go wrong. Try it.

Collect it:

• 1/2 cup All Purpose Flour / Maida

• 1 tbsp custard powder

• 1 tsp baking powder

• 1 egg

• 1/4 cup salted butter

• 1/4 cup caster sugar or powdered

sugar

• 1 tsp vanilla essence

• 2 tbsp almond milk (or regular milk)

Make it:

Sieve the flour with the custard powder and baking powder. Set aside.

In a bowl, add sugar and butter, whisk until smooth. Add the egg and beat well. Next add the vanilla and mix it in. Gently fold in the flour, a spoon at a time. Add milk and mix well. Combine till the batter is smooth.

Brush oil on both inner sides (top and bottom) of the sandwich maker, close it and switch it on. Allow it to preheat it for about 3 minutes. When it is hot, open and spoon the cake batter in each cavity until full. Then close the sandwich maker and bake the sandwich cakes for about 3 minutes, after which you can open and check to see if they are done. They will turn a golden brown when ready, and when you cut into them they will have a light and fluffy texture.

Remove them on to a plate and dust them with icing sugar, or you could drizzle chocolate, honey or nutella. Serve warm!
